Tropical Storm Fay Leaves Martin County Wet
We had our first storm for 2008 yesterday, August 19th 2008. As for Martin County and the surrounding areas it appears to have been a big rain event of over 10 inches in less than a 24 hour period.

Lots of flooded streets and a few low lying areas had some water intrusion into homes. The worst of Fay were a few Tornadoes that were spawned from the storms that it generated. To my knowledge there was no loss of life or serious injury.

It was interesting being in the storm and listening to the news and the weather channel with their broadcasts of alarming wind gusts, while either we were very lucky, or gusts of 30 mph or so just aren’t that significant.

We’re now waiting for the sun to come back out and dry us off and get back to life as usual.
